Join a romantic floral cake retreat with Butter & Blossoms at Chef’s Otelier. Over five days, you’ll explore chocolate cream and palette knife techniques to create delicate roses, lush garden florals, and sculptural botanical designs. With soft colours, intricate textures, and Kwun’s signature “sculpture painting” method, you’ll turn cakes into timeless edible art while enjoying the calm of Chef Leyla’s 22-acre orchard estate.

About Kwun

Tanaporn Vilailaks, known as Kwun, is a cake decoration artist and instructor based at her studio, Butter & Blossoms, in Bangkok, Thailand. Since 2017, she has been passionately teaching the art of buttercream painting using palette knives – a technique she lovingly calls “sculpture painting.”

SInspired by her love of flowers, Kwun transforms ordinary buttercream and chocolate cream into stunning 2D and 3D floral artworks on cakes. With a community of hundreds of thousands of followers, she has shared her expertise through workshops in Bangkok and across the world.

Retreat Schedule

A gentle progression from fundamentals to a full chocolate sculpture showpiece.

  1. March 3 – Buttercream Paintbrush Class ($650): 3-tier texture, palette-knife basics, and colour exploration.
  2. March 4 – Lily Design ($650): 2-tier chocolate sculpture focused on organic floral movement and structure.
  3. March 5 – Orchard Break: Rest day to walk the gardens, harvest fruit, or relax at the villa.
  4. March 6–7 – The Masterpiece ($1,300): Intensive 2-day chocolate sculpture workshop building a dramatic 3-tier cake.
  5. March 8 – Party Mini Cake ($300): Celebration day with delicate party cakes and final photos.

Chef Leyla is a culinary artist with over 20 years of experience, known for turning simple ingredients into beautiful, dramatic creations. Her signature style blends fine-dining technique with soulful, farm-to-table flavors — from sourdough and edible flowers to vibrant orchard-inspired dishes. With her eye for detail and passion for artistry, every plate becomes an unforgettable experience.

Guests will stay at Chef’s Otelier Escondido, a serene 22-acre orchard surrounded by fruit trees, gardens, and peaceful farm landscapes. The villa offers a warm, intimate retreat with beautiful views and a true farm-to-table experience. After an intensive 7–8 hour masterclass, guests can relax on the farm and enjoy meals prepared and served by Chef Leyla and her team. A private room for one guest is $400, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For two guests sharing the same room, the total is $500 with all meals included.
